One week ago, I arrived in CA. It has been a whirlwind of activity that all started when we found out that our Daughter and Precious SIL were expecting our first Grandchild....we knew that we needed to be part of their lives and to do that - we would need to move from NC to CA.
I will tell the story starting from then, reflecting back and filling in the blanks that are still amazing to us.
In NC, we owned Rego Automotive (www.RegoAutomotive.com, FB: Rego Automotive, Youngsville). The shop was always something we viewed as a ministry. Affordable and honest auto repair. Started from scratch with God in the very center of it all. In our decisions, in our service, in our conduct - honoring Christ. In order to move...we felt called to sell it so that it would continue...that person would need to be of like mind and vision, who would carry on.
Our 'Business Plan'
1 Peter 4:10
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
The most amazing things happened at the shop. From the very moment it opened, every single bill was paid. Every. Single. One. Husband worked very long hours, but every (almost every!) night we would fall into bed with the same question, "what was the best part of your day?"
We got to see people anonymously pay the repair bills of others. We had money put into our drop box with notes that just asked that we put the money toward someone in need. We got to partner with local churches and ministries that served folks in need. Service was the key. Serving Christ, serving our community.
All the while...it didn't always make 'sense' to people in our industry. Our rates were the lowest in our town. Not to devalue our service or quality of work, or that of the other shops, but to extend that to our community.
To God be the glory. It was not about us then and it is not our story now. Just giving the background...
